💚 Pay It Forward at DOT Café Sometimes a coffee is more than just a coffee. For someone who is struggling financially, feeling lonely, having a difficult day, or simply needs somewhere warm and welcoming to sit, a hot drink or a meal can make a huge difference. That’s why we’re introducing Pay It Forward at DOT Café. ☕💚 When you visit us, you can choose to buy an extra coffee, meal or DOT Deal for someone who may need it. Your kindness could mean: ☕ A warm coffee for someone who is lonely 🥣 A hot meal for a family having a tough time 💚 A welcoming place for someone who simply needs to feel part of their community If you’d rather support us financially, you can also make a donation to our Develop Outdoors GoFundMe, which helps us continue providing support, food, warmth, activities and opportunities for local families and individuals. Every donation, no matter how small, helps. Come into DOT Café and pay it forward. Or donate online and help us keep paying kindness forward throughout our community. 🌱
With support from Barry The Grumpy Cook in Hastings who has already done an amazing job and is now sharing funding to help support people in Peacehaven & Telscombe who access food banks to come in and enjoy a DOT deal in the cafe. None of this would be possible without the support of the local towns councillors Cllr Nikki Fabry, Cllr Christine Robinson, Cllr Isobel Sharkey and Cllr Cathy Gallagher.
Another fab day at Forest school with lots of exciting discoveries and activities from Slow worms to birds eggshells found, crafting lavender fairies and wooden spinners
A fantastic way to finish the term at Plot 22! Our students ended their final allotment session by creating a delicious no-cook feast using fresh ingredients they had grown and harvested themselves. From homemade flatbreads, hummus and guacamole to vibrant salads packed with herbs and edible flowers, the group worked together to prepare and enjoy a healthy meal while celebrating everything they have learned. It's been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they've developed new skills, tried new foods and discovered more about growing, cooking and healthy eating. A brilliant end to a fantastic term. Thank you, @plot22communitygarden 💚🌱 Grow. Learn. Belong. #communitymatters #outdoorlearning #vocationalskills #youngpeoplematter #alternativeeducation

🌟 Student Success at DOT Café 🌟 While many people enjoyed coffee and cake at our launch event, some of the real stars of the day were our amazing young people. Throughout the day, students took on a variety of roles including barista support, photography and event assistance, helping to capture special moments, support the team and gain valuable real-world experience. From preparing and serving coffees to taking photographs of the event, our students demonstrated confidence, responsibility, communication skills and a willingness to get involved. We couldn't be prouder of how they represented Develop Outdoors and DOT Café. One of the key reasons we created DOT Café was to provide meaningful opportunities for young people to develop employability skills in a supportive and welcoming environment. Over the coming months, the café will offer a range of work experience, volunteering and training opportunities, helping young people build confidence, develop workplace skills and gain experience that supports their future education, training and employment journeys. A huge well done to all of our students who played a part in making launch day such a success. We can't wait to see what they achieve next. #DOTCafe #DevelopOutdoors #StudentSuccess #EmployabilitySkills #WorkExperience #GrowLearnBelong

Young People Helping Shape the Future of Chatsworth Park's Nature Trail This half term week some of our Forest School children partnered with Friendly Fox Design to help create exciting new features for the Chatsworth Park Nature Trail. The session began with a walk around the park, observing the wildlife and natural spaces that make the area so special. Together, the group identified animals, insects and birds that visitors might spot throughout the year, while discussing ideas to make the trail more engaging, interactive and educational for the wider community. After collecting natural materials and taking part in wildlife-themed games and activities, we headed back indoors to cool down and get creative. The children explored fascinating facts about habitats and lifecycles before designing ideas for new trail signs featuring creatures such as frogs, toads, moths, birds and insects. The group then presented their ideas and suggestions for how Friendly Fox Design could bring them to life as part of the new improved interactive trail. Once the signs have been produced, our Build & Grow and Forest School groups will work together to install them around the park, creating a lasting community resource that encourages people of all ages to explore, learn and connect with nature. We can't wait to see the finished trail! 💚 #ForestSchool #ChatsworthPark #FriendlyFoxDesign #NatureTrail #OutdoorLearning #LearningThroughNature #CommunityProject #WildlifeEducation #NatureConnection #Peacehaven #TheHavens #EnvironmentalEducation
Any donation that you are able to make helps us to continue delivering our services in and around the community, and we are extremely grateful for every one we receive – big and small. Thank you for your support.
